I apologize for the amount of people I will upset, I enjoyed Prey at Night more that the first and Chapter 1, the suspense kept me on the edge of the seat the whole time, the acting was solid, the cinematography was nice, the style of the shots, and the kills brutal, most satisfyingly tho, killing the killers, especially the double tap, very epic takedowns, the nods to Scream and TCM were pretty cool, and to finish it off, a BADASS final girl.
Same. The first movie was about what I expected but then I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the second one. It really scratches that slasher itch. Not sure why this subreddit seems to prefer the first movie but whatever.
This, in my mind, is about the most ridiculous thing that has ever been written about any other thing, so much so that I feel professionally and morally justified in adding Mr. Dujsik to the list of critics whose work I intentionally seek out just to feel better about my own (admittedly questionable) taste in media.
I have some words of my own about The Strangers: Prey at Night, including “tripe”, “utter” and “fucking”, although not necessarily in that order. You have to wonder for a moment why a film like this gets made, although given that it has already grossed several times its budget, the answer is depressingly obvious. Even a decade gap between this and its predecessor, which is a long time between a movie and its sequel, especially in this genre, couldn’t dampen enthusiasm for the Man in the Mask (Damian Maffei) and his two cherubic accomplices, Pin-Up Girl (Lea Enslin) and Dollface (Emma Bellomy).
